SMT (SURFACE-MOUNT TECHNOLOGY) TECHNICIAN

Job target:

  • SMT technician, or surface-mount technology technician, build and perform maintenance on electronic or mechanical equipment. They may assemble, test, and troubleshoot equipment using a variety of tools and methods

Job Description

  1. Work in the SMT Department, understanding equipment operations
  2. Assist senior engineer on Troubleshooting, daily setting and operating of SMT equipment
  3. Able to program universal machines, screen printers, SPI, reflow ovens, AOI and selective soldering.
  4. 1st level support for PCBA production
  5. Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of electronic circuit board manufacturing equipment and systems
  6. Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  7. Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions
  8. Working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to assist in troubleshooting and to procure replacement parts
  9. Analyse data to identify and resolve systemic process and performance issues
  10. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

 Requirements

  • Candidate must possess at least Professional Certificate, Diploma/ Advanced/ Higher/ Graduate Diploma in Electric/ Mechanical or equivalent.
  • At least 1~2 year (s) of working experience in SMT or related is required for this position
  • Experience with manufacturing environment Higher Level Assembly (HLA).
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft programs, including Word and Excel, are necessary.
  • Good verbal and inter communication skill in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Japanese will be added advantage.

  • Able to work long and flexible hours, on shift duties

Job Description

  1. Assist Engineer during troubleshooting machine, adjusting machine program & parameter
  2. Performing X-ray confirmation every start production & after model conversion
  3. Inform & Assist Engineer to write down the report for any abnormality / trouble on machine
  4. Performing & Fill in all check sheet in production line.
  5. Performing the Simple AOI backup data for every week.
  6. Manage & Key In Schedule Waste Quantity into the schedule waste systems.
  7. Assist Engineer for quantity data for parts drops into the system
  8. Provide check sheet at production line for every month
  9. Update & Inform Engineer regarding on spare parts balance & which spare parts need to purchase
  10. Monitor the quality performance on every hours
  11. Do adjustment on machine to maintain the quality performance.
  12. Performing the convert model process on the machine.

  • Assist in evaluate electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine root cause of failure.

About the role

Some of your tasks could include:

  1. To be attached to the Quality Assurance Department and be involved in daily operations.

About the role

To ensure production targets are achieved with controlled cost and on-time delivery by effectively managing manpower, quality performance (FPY and defect rate), downtime, 5S and safety compliance, continuous improvement activities, operator competency through training, part drop control, and smooth implementation of new models or 4M changes in accordance with company and customer requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise all production operations including manpower planning, overtime control, and resource management to ensure daily production targets are achieved, overtime is controlled, costs are minimized, and delivery is completed on time.
  2. Lead, monitor, and manage production workers’ performance to ensure good attendance, discipline, consistent work quality, and reduced rework caused by operator errors, while providing coaching and guidance.
  3. Identify and implement continuous improvement activities to ensure improvement in productivity, efficiency, and product quality, and to reduce waste and recurring production issues.
  4. Ensure excellent housekeeping and maintain 5S at a high standard to achieve a clean, safe, and organized work environment, reduce safety risks, and support consistent product quality.
  5. Upgrade workers’ skills and knowledge through structured training programs to ensure operators are competent, multi-skilled, and able to meet quality and productivity requirements.
  6. Perform and verify visual inspections to ensure products meet quality requirements, defect rates are controlled, and first-pass yield is maintained.
  7. Prepare and ensure availability of raw materials and parts to prevent production delays, line stoppages, or quality issues caused by material shortages or errors.
  8. Update and monitor daily downtime and production yield to ensure quick response to abnormalities and continuous improvement in equipment and process performance.
  9. Support production planning and prioritize operations to ensure smooth production flow, minimal delays, and adherence to the production plan.
  10. Monitor part drop and take corrective actions to ensure part loss is minimized and recurring issues are prevented.
  11. Support new model introduction and 4M changes to ensure smooth changeover with minimal impact on quality, productivity, and delivery.
  12. Allocate working time effectively between supervision and operational tasks to ensure adequate manpower monitoring and stable daily production performance.
